Some of these decisions may have a little impact on our profit. But we believe in taking reasonable steps to reduce our impact on the environment.
On packing materials
Many of our products ship in factory-sealed packages. And, we also prepare many boxes ourselves. When we prepare boxes, we use packing peanuts made of non-toxic cornstarch that melt in water (it's really cool - show your kids!), rather than styrofoam. We also use unprinted (brown) corrugated cardboard boxes for easy recycling.
On our choice of shippers
We ship the vast majority of our orders via FedEx Ground, for delivery within 5 business days. FedEx is the only company in its industry to be rated an "A" in the Council on Economic Priorities' Corporate Responsibility Profile for Environment. Using the shipper with the best environmental record is important to us - and we know it's important to you.
On our location
We are located in Los Angeles, a major hub for cargo. Many of our suppliers have warehouses in southern California. Our warehouse is only one mile from a FedEx distribution center. These decisions mean that our inventory spends less time on trucks, and contribute to fewer emissions. And our mild weather - combined with a well-ventilated, modern building - lets us have a warehouse lit with flourescent lighting and no need for air conditioning.
On our manufacturers
We love to see the stroller recycling and donation programs that are popping up around the USA. We look for - and have selected - some manufacturers who are environmentally conscious - they'll either recondition used strollers for donation to families in need, or they'll break apart the recyclable components (aluminum, plastic) before disposal.
