The Kelty TC 3.0 model has an easy sliding torso adjustment to give parents an exact fit on the length between the contoured shoulder pads and padded hip belt. If a pack does not have such an adjustment, backpack carriers might ride too high (or low) on your hips and make it very difficult to find a comfortable fit.
This pack has an adjustable seat and five-point harness to best fit babies with good neck control (usually around six months) on up to young toddlers (or older toddlers who are a bit smaller than average).
When you're not using the backpack, use the side straps to compress down the sitting area, and the Kelty TC 3.0 converts into a normal-looking backpack.
Also... keep that diaper bag at home when you've got the Kelty TC 3.0. It includes a 1450cu inch compartment (about the size of an average school backpack) to carry what you need.
Though the Kelty TC 3.0 is rated to carry up to forty pounds, don't plan on using it with a 40 pound child. That maximum weight capacity includes what you may also pack in the zippered areas. You can expect this baby backpack to last until sometime in middle toddlerhood (depending upon size of your child).
